Jan Frankel Schau specializes in employment and business mediation and has resolved hundreds of litigated cases arising out of tort, malpractice, real estate and employment.  Jan is honored to have been elected as the 2007 President of the Southern California Mediation Association and as a Fellow in the International Academy of Mediators in 2009.  She was invited to join ADR Services as a Panel Neutral in 2007 where she is an exclusive Panel member.

In addition to private mediation, Jan serves on the American Arbitration Association's Panel of Arbitrators and serves as a Civil Service Hearing Officer for the City and County of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Jan began her legal career in a large, downtown Los Angeles Insurance Defense firm and has been an active member of the California State Bar since 1981.  In 1995, she became a sole practitioner, specializing in employment business litigation, while raising three children and balancing work and motherhood.  Since 2000, when she began mediating, she has successfully resolved over 1000 cases.

Jan holds a B.A. from Pomona College in Claremont, Cal. in International Relations and Diplomacy and a J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, Ca.  In addition, she holds a certificate from the Dispute Resolution Services of the Los Angeles County Bar, an Advanced Mediation Certificate from the Strauss Institute in Malibu, Ca. and a Special Certificate in Disability Mediation from Loyola Law School's Western Center for Law and Disability Rights.  She is an avid student of ADR as well as a popular author and lecturer on related topics.

Ms. Schau has enjoyed enormous success over the past decade in resolving difficult and contentious legal disputes. Ms. Schau works with diplomacy, skill, determination and sensitivity.  She is a well recognized leader in the field of ADR by both peers and clients.
